DiveBar’s support of the Diveheart Foundation also was featured on the cover of Florida Bar News. Diveheart teaches disabled individuals to scuba dive in order to help them build confidence and independence despite their physical limitations. DiveBar funded a dive trip for two members of Diveheart — Jaun Carlos “JC” Gill, who was born a blind paraplegic, and Karen Mitchell, who became a partial quadriplegic after an injury to her spinal cord — that furthered their scuba training and experiences. Members of DiveBar raised the money through its program “Putting Something Back–Scuba Style,” which was launched in 2012.
