Continue ReadingDiveBar participated in a unique Relay for Life event in Lauderdale by the Sea. Instead of walking a track, participants took turns diving from 6am until midnight all in the name of raising funds for the American Cancer Society. Our team came in third place for highest fundraising out of the water teams.
DiveBar hosted a program for our members to become REEF certified volunteer fish surveyors. The divers had to study fish species and prove their identification skills during two dives and by passing a written test. REEF teaches divers to collect meaningful marine life data that will contribute to the preservation of ocean environments. The data is used by a variety of conservation agencies who promote the health of our oceans.
On October 29, 2011, DiveBar members hit the pavement in support of Women in Distress at the annual SAFEWALK. Team DiveBar raised more than $1,000 to help families suffering from domestic violence. A big thanks to our team leaders Kerry Kelley and Jen Rosinski.
