Besides our great strides in coral restoration, DiveBar partnered with Dr. Neil Hammerschlag and the University of Miami RJ Dunlap Marine Conservation Program to support shark research and conservation.  In fact, you might have seen us recently on the cover of Florida Bar News and on the Florida Bar website where DiveBar’s support of RJD has been featured.  That partnership started with our adoption of a great hammerhead shark equipped with a satellite tag that will provide RJD with critical information about the shark’s activities (live tracking of our adopted shark can be found on our website). Since then, we participated in a shark-tagging research expedition to enable the RJD team to conduct more hands-on research.

diveheart-photoDiveBar’s support of the Diveheart Foundation also was featured on the cover of Florida Bar News. Diveheart teaches disabled individuals to scuba dive in order to help them build confidence and independence despite their physical limitations. DiveBar funded a dive trip for two members of Diveheart — Jaun Carlos “JC” Gill, who was born a blind paraplegic, and Karen Mitchell, who became a partial quadriplegic after an injury to her spinal cord — that furthered their scuba training and experiences. Members of DiveBar raised the money through its program “Putting Something Back–Scuba Style,” which was launched in 2012.…
